Lost Pond
RADIO SILENCE is a walk.
It’s also a soundtrack
and a grief ritual
and a unique encounter with the urban wilds.
The Book of Walks is a logbook,
structured to offer it’s own kind of walk for the reader.
The Book of Walks is an edited logbook from RADIO SILENCE, the guided, geo-located walk through the trails of the Lost Pond. The Book of Walks is being offered to support The Children’s Room in Arlington, MA.
Since 2019, Deb has guided hundreds of audiowalks through the Lost Pond. The Radio Silence audiowalk involves walking with geo-located music, sounds, and live storytelling. Although the geo-located audio doesn’t change, no two walks are the same. The RADIO SILENCE audiowalk began as a personal grief ritual, and evolved over time into a space of care, connection, and reclamation.
The original music of RADIO SILENCE was co-produced with Terrance Reeves, and recorded with the inimitable talents of the LENNY collective; Chris Burleson, Josh Margolis, and Andrew Wheeler, along with Josie Lowder and Elspeth McSurely.

Book of Walks
““RADIO SILENCE Book of Walks” has a stillness to it. It’s like a capacious stopping point, a place where it’s safe to feel your way into the crannies of loss and love.” -Cate McQuaid
The Book of Walks operates like a walk itself, with a poetic recounting of some of the most memorable walks over the first 2 years. It includes an insightful essay by sculptor Jill Slosberg-Ackerman, and stunning images by the photographer Kelly Davidson and Elijah Mickelson. Text and other imagery by Deb Todd Wheeler. Edited by Tessa Day. Book design by John Kramer Design.
